History

There was a time when the image of the vampire was seductive in its own right, legends were spoken of them, forests were cut down to write many books about them and more than a million miles of film reel was used to produce movies about them.  So let me ask you how did we go from...

"Sometimes after an hour of apathy, my strange and beautiful companion would take my hand and hold it with a fond pressure, renewed again and again; blushing softly, gazing in my face with languid and burning eyes, and breathing so fast that her dress rose and fell with the tumultuous respiration. It was like the ardor of a lover; it embarrassed me; it was hateful and yet overpowering, and with gloating eyes, she drew me to her, and her hot lips traveled along my cheek in kisses, and she would whisper, almost in sobs, "You are mine, you shall be mine, and you and I are one forever." (Carmilla, Chapter 4, 1872)."

To this actual review for a game in Second Life unaffiliated to Vampire's Kiss?

"When have you heard of such a thing! I have never known ANY Vampire ask to bite their victim, and it will drain your (L) money ............ DELETE!"

Vampires in the Second Life community have been mislaid by the creators of other systems to forego the mystery and the ambiance of that which comes with the telling of a truly Gothic story in the form of roleplay.

It was with this in mind that BlackRaven Direwytch (LesleyAsh) approached Audie Revnik with a proposal to create the code for a system that would encourage a better form of etiquette for those who wished to roleplay as vampires.

Vampire's Kiss was born and thus a new way of hunting began, no vampire in the Vampire's Kiss system would be able to hunt for unwilling victims, for with Vampire's Kiss, a victim needs to be wearing a HUD in order to be fed from.
